The true mastermind of the ill fate that happens to Donna in this episode will be familiar to fans of one of the Doctor Who spinoff shows.

Oliver Morgenstern from 'Smith And Jones' is back and in fine form.

Donna suggests that footage of a Titanic replica spaceship flying towards Buckingham Palace is actually from a sequel to the famous Leonardo DiCaprio/Kate Winslet film.

There's a Wayne's World moment where Donna and Wilf sing Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody'.

Rose Tyler tells Donna that The Darkness is coming. Donna tells her that she saw them live in 2004 and they only had one good song.

Interview with Lesley Sharp- Plays Sky Silvestry

Nick Griffiths talks to Lesley Sharp about joining Doctor Who for the creepy episode Midnight.

"How could you not want to play a character called Sky Silvestry?" asks Lesley Sharp of her character in Doctor Who. "But there's not very much you find out about her before she gets taken over by something ghastly. So, really, the journey through the character is in playing her being possessed by something extremely unpleasant."

Sky Silvestry is one of eight people touring the alien planet Midnight in a shuttle bus, with plans to view a sapphire waterfall. The Doctor is another passenger, naturally, and also on board are actors David Troughton and Lindsey Coulson.

"The planet Midnight is really toxic," Sharp explains. "You can't touch any of it, and apparently there's nothing out there [in the atmosphere] that can survive. So they're on their way over this strange desert terrain to see the waterfall, when something manages to get into this space-age equivalent of a minibus. Then these people are stranded, while someone goes mad in a corner. It's great - not like any other Doctor Who I've seen."

Sharp is known for playing in very human, often gritty, dramas: the Mike Leigh films Vera Drake and Naked, and Paul Abbott's Clocking Off on TV. She's also been in Doctor Who supremo Russell T Davies's Bob & Rose and The Second Coming, so this week's Davies-penned Who story, Midnight, makes three. Sharp now considers the writer a friend as well as a colleague. "He told me that this idea just came to him and he sat down and wrote it quickly, in a day or so. It just all flowed out of him, this weird idea."

But what is this hideous entity that takes over lonely Sky, and what's involved in her possession?

"This thing just heads for Sky and it's - ugh - it's horrid. And then she starts repeating what everybody says, and she can't stop, and you just don't know what the hell is going on with her, or why she's doing it. It's very weird. And then she stops repeating things and starts speaking in sync with everybody."

That's on screen, of course. On set, it meant her learning chunks of everyone else's dialogue, and speaking them at exactly the same time as the other actors, which is more difficult than it sounds.

"What was interesting, depending on who it was that I was speaking with at the same time, was that everyone has a different speed and rhythm to the way they speak. And David Tennant, for example, at times speaks incredibly quickly.

"We both had to say the square root of pi at one point, so we had to learn this huge numerical sequence - and we both learnt it differently. I learnt the numbers in batches of three, and he learnt them in batches of four, so we had to keep going over it together to get them perfectly in sync. Because although we both knew the numbers, we were both saying them in a different way. It was really fascinating."

And creepy. Sharp's career has led her to dabbling with danger before - she recalls being buried in mud for a BBC dramatisation of The Moonstone, until her head was completely covered, to look as if she had drowned.

So which felt creepier: being entombed in mud, or this?

"This Doctor Who is really, really creepy!"

Tennant yet to consider 'Dr Who' future

David Tennant has yet to consider his long-term future in Doctor Who as he hasn't been asked to take part in any further series.

Addressing speculation about whether he will return for the show's fifth season in 2010, Tennant told BBC One's The Andrew Marr Show: "I've not really been asked yet... if and when I'm asked then I'll consider the question."

The Scottish actor confirmed that he will be appearing in several specials in 2009 to bridge the gap between the current fourth season and the fifth. "We're definitely doing them," he stated. "I go back to it in January and I think we're doing four now."

It has already been announced that a new showrunner will take charge of Doctor Who for its fifth season, with Steven Moffat replacing Russell T. Davies.

Sonic screwdrivers and squareness gun!!!

OK, how cool is it that she has a sonic screwdriver that is just like the doctor's? Well, almost like the doctors. Anyway, she has a squareness gun!!! The doctor seems impressed but at the same time skeptical. She must be pretty special if he's willing to give her a souped up sonic screwdriver sometime in the future. Well, his future anyway. OK, here's the last of the dialogue I picked up from the episode.

Riversong talking to Donna, “You travel with him, don’t you. The doctor, you travel with him. Oh God, do I know that man. We go way back, that man and me. Just not this far back. He hasn’t met me yet. I sent him a message. But it went wrong. It’s arrive too early. This is the doctor in the days before he knew me. And he looks at me. He looks right through me and it shouldn’t kill me, but it does. Donna, You’re Donna, Donna Noble. I do know the doctor, but in the future. His personal future.” Riversong looks distressed when Donna asks why she doesn’t know her.

“Every shadow? So, what do we do? Run, run where? We’re not leaving you Dave. We could increase the mass density, dial it up 400 %. Make it a tougher meal. Gotcha (Raises sonic screwdriver) It’s a screwdriver. Yeah I know. Does that mean we can leave? I don’t want to hang around here. Shut up, Mr. Lux. He’s gone. He’s ghosting. Doctor don’t. Excuse me. Does it move any faster. See that wall behind you. Duck. (Squareness gun!!!!) Everybody out, go, go, move, move. You said they’re in every shadow? Run! So what’s the plan? Do we have a plan?” Doctor, “Your screwdriver. It looks exactly like mine.” RS, “Yeah you gave it to me.” Doctor, “I don't give my screwdriver to anyone.” RS, “I’m not anyone.” Doctor, “Who are you?” RS, “What’s the plan?” Doctor, “I teleported Donna back to the TARDIS. If we don’t go back there under five hour, emergency program 1 will activate.” RS, “and take her home, yeah.” Doctor, “She’s not there.” RS, “Well maybe the corners have slipped. The equipment is ancient.” Donna ends up as a node. RS, “How can it be Donna? How’s that possible? Doctor!!! Doctor, we’ve got to go know! Ends with Donna Node “Donna Noble has left the library. Donna Noble has been saved.” and Proper Dave Monster “Hey, who turned out the lights?” RS, “Doctor, what are we going to do?”

Of course, we know that Donna is saved and Riversong must know that Donna's fate was different than ending up as a node. She may be confused, but I say the Doctor's going to save the day. But, that doesn't let Donna off the hook. She still has "something on her back." Judging from Riversong's reaction, something bad must happen to Donna.

This time I pick up where the Doctor is trying to access Cal. The doctor is clearly divided in his attention because although he is trying to solve the problem at hand, he keeps looking at Riversong's diary. You can just tell it's driving him crazy.

(Doctor is talking to girl through tv)

“What happened. Who was that?”

“You heard him people. Let there be light.”

(Doctor picks up RiverSong’s diary)

“Sorry, you’re not allowed to see inside that book. It’s against the rules.” Doctor, “What rules.” RiverSong, “You’re rules.”

RiverSong says, “It’s the little girl” in response to the books flying off the shelves.

She says to “ask Mr. Lux” when the Doctor wants to know what Cal is.

“Then why don't you sign his contract?” (Pause) “I didn’t either. I’m getting worse than you.” “There was a message from the library. Just one. ‘The lights are going out.’ And the computer sealed the planet and there was nothing for a hundred years. There was one other thing in the last message. I trust this man with my life. With everything.” Lux says, “You’ve only just met him.” She says, “Nope, He’s only just met me.” “This is the data script that came with the message. ‘4,022 saved. No survivors.’”

“4.022. That’s the exact number of people who were in the library when the planet was sealed. That’s what we’re here to find out.

“Ms. Evangelista, please state your current...Please state your current…..position. It’s her. It’s Ms. Evangelista. Uh, I’m sorry everyone. This isn’t going to be pleasant. She’s ghosting. This is her last moment. No we can’t. A little respect, thank you.” To Proper Dave.

“It’s a data ghost. She’ll be gone in a moment.” She presses communication button, “Ms. Evangelista, you’re fine. Just relax. We’ll be with you presently. Yes, she’s here. Hold on. Go ahead. She can hear you.” To Donna.

“She’s leaving know. The pattern’s degrading. Does anybody mind if I…” She pulls the data from Ms. Evangelista’s collar.

“It’s just a freak of technology. Whatever did this to her, whatever killed her, I’d like a word with that.”

Doctor, “I’m gonna need a pack lunch,” RiverSong, “Hang on.” Doctor, “What’s in that book.” RS, “Spoilers.” Doctor, “Who are you?” RS, “Professor RiverSong, University…” Doctor, “To me, Who are you to me.” RS, “Again. Spoilers. Chicken and a bit of salad. Knock yourself out”

Since RTD said to watch and listen to RiverSong very, very closely I decided to watch the episode again. Only this time, I’m writing down what she says and how she acts. Something is up with her but I haven’t decided what. Take a look at the statements and see what conclusions you come up with.

RiverSong enters the library as the leader and says, “Hello, sweetie” to the doctor.

“Take off your helmets everyone. We’ve got breathers.”

“Cause I’ve dated androids. They’re rubbish.” To Lux

“I lied. I’m always lying. There are bound to be others.” To Lux

“You came through the north door, yeah? Was there much damage.” To the doctor

“Got a problem with archaeologists?” To the doctor

“Ah, Professor RiverSong, archaeologist.” To the doctor

“You have a mouth that won’t stop.” To Lux

“You think there’s danger here.” To doctor

“That was a hundered years ago. The library’s been silent for a hundred years. Whatever’s came here is long dead.”

Doctor says, “Bet your life?” and RiverSong says “Always.”

RiverSong tells team to “do as he (doctor) says.”

“Apparently I am. Anita help with the lights. Other Dave make sure the door’s secure then help Anita. Mr. Lux put your helmet on and drop your visor. Proper Dave access the library terminal. I want you to access the library database. See what you can find out about what happened here a hundred years ago. Pretty boy, you’re with me. Step into my office.”

Mr Lux, “Why am I the only one wearing my helmet.” RiverSong, “I don’t fancy you.”

“Pretty Boy, with me I said.”

“Thanks. The usual. For coming when I call. You’re doing a very good job acting like you don’t know me. I’m assuming there’s a reason. OK. Shall we do diaries then. Where are we this time. Going by your face, I’d say it’s early days for you, so, um Crash of the Byzantium. Have we done that yet? Obviously ringing no bells. Right, um, Picnic at Azgod. Have we done Azgod yet? Obviously not. Blimey, very early days then. Life with a time traveler. Never knew it could be such hard work. You’re young. No but you are. Your eyes. You’re younger than I’ve ever seen you.

Doctor says, “You’ve seen me before then?”

“Doctor, please tell me you know who I am.” (Doctor doesn’t know who she is)
